Voters in Lompoc were asked to cast ballots Tuesday on Measure I.

With the polls closed on election night, results show voters favoring the measure with a 68% to 32% vote.

Measure I would increase the sales tax in Lompoc by one percent, bringing it to 8.75 percent.

The city expects the sales tax increase to generate about $4.8 million a year to cover public service costs and help pay off its CalPERS obligation.
