While many celebrations are postponed or canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic, an Arroyo Grande mother is finding ways to make her daughter's birthday extra special.
After her daughter Erica Flores received a birthday card from one of her teachers in the mail, Angie Miranda says she felt inspired to take action.
Miranda asked people on social media to send cards for Erica's 10th birthday on Sunday.
So far, Erica says she has received more than 60 birthday messages in the mail from people in New York, Florida, New Jersey, Wisconsin and even Canada and Nigeria.
"It has been such a hard year with COVID that a lot of them just wanted to make it extra special for her," said Miranda. "The stuff they wrote was just so positive and amazing."
The birthday celebrant says she has also received Barbie dolls, new clothes and a toy car.
Erica's mother says more birthday cards are on the way.
