A woman was hit and killed by a train Friday morning in Montecito while she was walking on the tracks, officials say.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at about 7:10 a.m. near the southbound Olive Mill Road off-ramp.
Officials say the engineer saw the woman, who was walking northbound, and sounded the horn while trying to brake, but was unable to stop in time.
The coroner’s office is working to identify the woman.

The incident delayed the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner about two hours.
