Lompoc Police is asking people to remember to call 9-1-1 if there is an emergency.
Although police officers are happy that residents are downloading the Police Department’s mobile app, they have noticed an increase in emergency reports through the app.
The app is not meant to handle emergencies, but rather submit tips, send photos and place non-emergency calls.
Incidents, like stopping a crime, reporting a fire or saving a life, should be reported by calling 9-1-1.
The City of Lompoc also encourages citizens to register for the Aware and Prepare notification system to receive up-to-date information about emergency incidents.
