A woman Morro Bay police say used a baseball bat to cause thousands of dollars in damage at a local motel and later threaten officers is now behind bars.
Officers say they responded to Motel 6 on the 200 block of Atascadero Road Wednesday evening to a report of a woman breaking windows on guest rooms there.
Officers reportedly located the suspect, identified as Jaime Leighann Jordan, near Lila Keiser Park. They say she was still holding the bat and coming closer to the officers “with the bat raised in a threatening manner” and despite repeated commands to drop it, refused.
One officer drew his weapon “fearing he was about to be assaulted with bat,” police say, but did not fire.
Another officer’s Tazer eventually caused the 37-year-old to stop advancing on officers, police say.
Jordan was taken into custody and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. Bail is set at $25,000.
Damage from the 15 destroyed windows is estimated at approximately $6,000, authorities say.
No one was injured.
