Kids in Lompoc made snowmen and sledded in the 4th Annual snow day on Saturday.

The event was held on River Park Road from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The idea started a couple years back when Jim Mosby found out some organizations were charging kids $5 to see Santa, which he says is ridiculous.

“A lot of people in our town don’t have the opportunity,” Mosby said. “We started off with the idea of Santa and then we searched around for other things to do and we decided, let’s bring the snow in as well.”

Earlier in the week, organizers were in need of volunteers and monetary contributions for the snow. It costs $300 per one ton of snow and 30 tons of snow are needed for the event.

Luckily, organizers got enough snow to put on the event.
