Two people were displaced by a fire that broke out Sunday night at an apartment complex in Pismo Beach, according to CAL FIRE.

Crews were dispatched at about 7:30 p.m. to reports of the fire on the 400 block of Westpoint Drive.

While the extent of the damage was unknown, PIO Chris Elms says the Red Cross was called out to assist two people displaced by the fire. One person was reportedly hospitalized with smoke inhalation.

City inspectors were called out to look at the damage of the apartment involved and possibly another nearby.

A total of two units were evacuated due to the fire, Elms said.

Fire crews remained on scene for about four hours.

The cause is under investigation.
