World War II Veteran George L. Corrales Jr. and David B. Valenzuela, who has passed away, received the Legion of Honor medal from the country of France on Wednesday.
The two men were celebrated at the Veterans Memorial Building in Lompoc for their efforts in World War II fighting against the Axis Powers.
Corrales Jr., 94, made sure to acknowledge the other brave men who fought by his side.
“It just isn’t for me,” Corrales Jr. said. “For all the guys that were there.”
The banquet hall was packed with people who were there to honor the two heroes with this prestigious award. It’s the highest award from the French government.
