The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team came to the aid of two hikers who got lost Sunday night.

Sheriff’s officials say the two 20-year-old women from San Luis Obispo set out for Zaca Ridge at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, but on their way down from Grass Mountain, they lost the trail. As it got dark, a storm moved in and the hikers called 911 for help.

Twelve members of the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team were reportedly dispatched to the area at around 8:30 p.m.

Sheriff’s officials say they located the hikers at about 2 a.m. and escorted them back to Zaca Ridge Rd. The women were reportedly given dry clothing and were evaluated by medics.

According to the sheriff’s office, both women said they were fine, just cold and tired.

The search and rescue team reported snow at the top of Grass Mountain.
