Guadalupe is trying to find solutions to an illegal fireworks problem.
The city council is looking at developing a new ordinance, with the hope of cutting down on illegal fireworks and their impact on people and pets.
City officials say residents raised their concerns about fireworks last year.
The biggest concerns are impacts on animals, especially around the 4th of July.
“Once in a while you hear somebody in the middle of the night fire one off and they are not little guys, they’re the very pretty explosive type that are disruptive to everybody,” said Guadalupe Mayor Ariston Julian.
The city’s current fireworks ordinance was put in place 72 years ago.
