Repairs were underway at Lompoc Valley Medical Center Thursday morning after a driver suspected of being under the influence crashed into the emergency room entrance, according to hospital staff.
Lompoc police say the driver, identified as Elijio Juarez, 33, ran into the hospital after crashing into a glass window at the ER’s main entrance at about 6:13 a.m.
Police reportedly found him hiding in an office and took him into custody.
“Emergency protocol were immediately put into place by LVMC staff and the Lompoc Police Department responded immediately. The driver, who was acting erratically, was quickly restrained and apprehended by police officers,” Public Relations Coordinator Nora Wallace said.
Juarez faces charges related to a parole violation and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
No one was injured and patient care at the hospital in Lompoc was not impacted, according to Wallace.
The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development has been notified of the damages and repairs that are being made.
