The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is crediting community members for alerting deputies to a suspicious vehicle parked in their Orcutt neighborhood.

On Saturday, a 911 call resulted in the arrests of two teens who were parked in the area of Lorraine Ave. and E. Rice Ranch Rd. Sheriff’s officials say there have been burglaries in the area recently and residents were concerned.

When deputies arrived to check it out, they say a 17-year-old boy tried to run from the car but they were able to catch him. Deputies say he had been drinking and had a loaded handgun concealed in his clothing.

A 19-year-old man, identified as Carlos Morales Diaz of Guadalupe, was also arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, being under 21 and in possession of alcohol, and driving without a license.
