A new tool for sexual assault survivors is being implemented by local support groups and law enforcement.
Seek Then Speak was unveiled Friday in San Luis Obispo. It’s an initiative to help survivors of sexual assault find help in a way that’s accessible to anyone with internet access or a phone.
The program is available through the web, a mobile app and telephone, and it supports 60 different languages.
Through a series of questions, survivors are given the choice to begin the process of reporting a crime directly to law enforcement and requesting supportive services.
“Because we know how important it is for them to get help when they are healing as well as being able to start the reporting process, stop and start it when they need to, have someone with them, never have to leave their home, it’s a really important tool,” explained Jennifer Adams, RISE Executive Director.
