Santa Maria’s 10th annual free Family Kite Festival is Sunday and it’s guaranteed to light up the sky with brightly colored kites.
More than two-thousand people are expected to come to the event at Rotary Centennial Park from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Kite Ambassadors from the American Kitefliers Association will be there to help families ensure smooth flying. There will also be a “kite hospital” for any damaged kites.
“We’re so excited to offer our Free Family Kite Fest for the tenth year here in Santa Maria,” Executive Director Nancy Gastelum said. “Our sunny, windy city is the perfect location for flying kites together as a community. We encourage people of all ages to join us for this fun and healthy outdoor event.”
The event is presented by the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum.
There will also be live music, food and lots of contests.
