The City of Lompoc says awidespread power outage in the city Saturday was due to a Mylar balloon that was caught in power lines.
The outage was first reported at about 2:34 p.m. and affected 4,142 homes and businesses in the central and southern part of Lompoc, officials said.
The lines affected by the balloon were near Maple Avenue and M Street.
Power was restored within about an hour.
