The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is hosting fire departments from both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties for the annual Interagency Wildland Urban Interface drill.

The drill is taking place in the area of the Holiday Fire which burned in the North Fairview area of Goleta in the summer of 2018.

Approximately 100 firefighters will be in the areas of North Fairview Ave and Highway 154 and Cathedral Oaks Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8.

The purpose of the drill is to train firefighters on structure defense tactics, including home preparation, hose deployment skills and helicopter operations among other life safety measures.
