Schools in San Luis Obispo celebrated National Bike to School Day Wednesday morning in coordination with SLO Regional Rideshare.
The event was organized to promote health and conservation.
Over 131 students from Sinsheimer Elementary School hopped on two wheels Wednesday. According to a post on the school’s Parent Teacher Association Facebook page, about 15 students ride to school on a regular day.
The first National Bike to School Day took place in 2012. The event provides an opportunity for schools across the country to unite in building on National Bike Month, according to the event’s website.
Participating schools also received incentives from Arts Cyclery, Foothill Cyclery and the city’s department of Parks and Recreation.
