Santa Maria police arrested an Arroyo Grande man on suspicion of stalking and dissuading a witness.
Thomas Simmons, 31, was reportedly taken into custody on May 3 during a traffic stop. Police say his arrest came after they had been investigating a stalking case involving Simmons for several days.
Investigators say officers found an assault rifle with loaded high-capacity magazines, a loaded handgun, and additional ammunition in his car. They say they also found other guns and ammunition during a search of his home.
