Saturday marks 23 years since Cal Poly student Kristin Smart mysteriously disappeared from campus.
Supporters of Smart’s family gathered at Dinosaur Caves Park in Pismo Beach Saturday afternoon to remember her life and talk about her still-unsolved case.
Those who follow the case include Chris Lambert who is creating a podcast about Smart’s disappearance.
Lambert says the fact that her body was never recovered leaves a lot of unanswered questions.
“On May 25th, 23 years ago she was at a party just off campus,” said Chris Lambert, podcast host. “She was intoxicated and it’s not really clear whether she was drunk or drugged or what was going on there. A few people walked her back to her dorm room, but she never got back to the room itself so something happened on the walk back to her dorm building and that’s what we’re trying to figure out.”
As part of the memorial, scholarships in Kristin’s name were also given out at the Nipomo High School senior awards night.
