Central Coast yoga enthusiasts got to try out downward dog with goats Saturday at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.
California Goat Yoga is a public outreach program hosted by Mullenax Ranch, which hosts yoga classes with baby goats.
The funds from the classes go directly toward caring for animals at the ranch.
The idea started out as a way for the ranch to share the joy of goats with folks who enjoy doing yoga and ranch owners say they’re just getting started.
“Yoga in itself is already very relaxing and then the goats just add that kind of extra element to it,” Alex Mullenax, the owner of the ranch, said. “A lot of people are intimidated to go to that yoga class. But goat yoga is more fun, you can come by yourself. Bring your mom, bring your dad, bring your own kids. We supply the goat kids.”
Goat yoga sessions will continue throughout the summer each Saturday at the Madonna Inn. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online.
