The Santa Maria Police Department held its 11th annual Golf Tournament Monday, which raises money for the police council.
The tournament lets teams compete in a round of 18 holes at the Santa Maria County Club Golf Course.
For people who weren’t into golf, they also had other games like bean bag shoot, the margarita, tequila and taco hole and the chip off the old block contest.
“This is an opportunity to give back to the city it’s an opportunity to support the city. police have been kind of underside in a lot of places but here in Santa Maria they, for the most part, are respected and appreciated, and we want them to know the city is behind them we also want to help them become the best they can for our community,” said Dan Shepard, president of Santa Maria Police Council.
The money raised in the tournament goes back to the police council, which supports the Santa Maria Police Department.
