A man who reportedly spent nearly 24 hours in his crashed car off Highway 154 was able to climb out and get help Friday morning.

The California Highway Patrol says the man was driving along the highway near Windy Gap Thursday around 10 a.m. when his vehicle went 50-to-70 feet off the road

He was unable to get out and his cell phone was dead, according to CHP.

Officers say the man was able to climb out Friday morning and make contact with someone who called for help.

The man was OK, according to CHP, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The vehicle was marked with an X and officers say they will work with Caltrans to determine when the vehicle can be removed.
