The man police say was connected to an arrest made in Grover Beach over the weekend has been charged with multiple felonies including attempted murder, kidnapping and burglary, according to court documents.

Michael Paul Aldaco, 32, was taken into custody early Sunday morning after Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies say they responded to reports of a domestic violence disturbance in Orcutt the night before.

The incident involved Aldaco going into a woman’s home where he hit, restrained and threatened her, police said, adding that he also vandalized the home.

Aldaco reportedly left and went to a family member’s home in Grover Beach where he was arrested around 4 a.m. Sunday after authorities say they obtained search and arrest warrants.

Court documents show Aldaco was charged Tuesday with multiple felonies including attempted murder, kidnapping, burglary, inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant and also several enhancements, including use of a firearm.

He remained in custody at Santa Barbara County Jail Friday morning with bail set at more than $1 million, jail records show.

Aldaco has pleaded not guilty and is due back in court July 8.
