The City of Arroyo Grande celebrated a new affordable housing development coming to the city with an old-fashioned wall raising Thursday.
The 20 new apartments sponsored by the Housing Authority of San Luis Obispo (HASLO) will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with rents set at about 50 percent of what market rents are.
The Halcyon Collective Project is being built to strict GreenPoint environmental standards.
Its name is a nod to the Modern Agrarian architecture and historical Arroyo Grande, officials say.
One-hundred percent of common area and 50-percent of tenant energy usage will be generated on-site with solar panels.
An exact completion date for the housing has not been released.
