The Morro Bay Police Department is inviting the public to participate in several interactive sessions to learn about the operations of the department at the 2019 Citizen’s Academy.
The Academy will be held throughout nine consecutive Thursdays, excluding Halloween, starting on September 12 through November 14. Each class will be three hours long from 6-9 p.m.
Topics covered throughout the course include the history of the Morro Bay Police Department, a brief look into each of the Department’s divisions and a question-and-answer session to better understand the law enforcement profession.
Instructional training will cover radio communications, crime-solving skills, crime scene investigations and patrol procedures.
The purpose of the Citizen’s Academy is to create a bond between the Police Department and the community through hands-on activities. Its goal is to help make Morro Bay a safer place to live among all residents.
If you are a Morro Bay resident and you would like to be a part of this year’s Citizen’s Academy, you can either call the Police Department or stop by the station for an application.
