Camp Whittier celebrated a financial milestone by raising enough money to rebuild the facility following the devastating Whittier Fire in 2017.

Camp counselors and kids at the camp were able to have some fun to commemorate the occasion, with the CEO allowing the kids to dunk him into the water during a dunk tank game.

The outdoor kids camp is located near Lake Cachuma. It lost four bunk houses, one maintenance shed and two maintenance workers’ homes in the fire.

The camp allows kids to enjoy the retreat center and all of its amenities, including a swimming pool, hiking trails, sports courts and a climbing wall.

The Whittier Fire broke out on July 8, 2017. It burned a total of 18,430 acres and took nearly three months to contain. The damage was estimated at more than $30 million. Officials confirmed a vehicle caused the fire.
