City of Carpinteria names new community resource deputy

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is introducing its new community resource deputy for the City of Carpinteria.

Senior Deputy James Carovano was selected to fill the position on July 1. He is a five-year veteran for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and is currently working with the Coastal Patrol Bureau. Deputy Carovano previously served as a part of the U.S. Coast Guard and was a law enforcement official at Yosemite National Park.

Deputy Carovano will serve parts of Carpinteria patrolling on bike and on foot, as well as creating a relationship with local schools and parents.

He says he is very excited to start the position and he hopes to build community relations through this new role.
