The San Luis Obispo Library is partnering with Shower the People to offer free showers on Sundays.

Shower the People is a non-profit organization that runs a mobile shower program for the homeless.

The group’s trailer has three private bathrooms with a sink, toilet and full shower. Clean towels and washcloths are provided, along with soap, shampoo and other basic personal items.

“At the library, we frequently see persons in need of amenities that are out of reach to some,” said Aracelli Astorga, San Luis Obispo Library Manager. “By partnering with a neighboring community agency, the library is able to provide this service to some of our more vulnerable library users.”

Hot showers will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Organizers say the service will be available through September and possibly longer.

Shower the People is accepting donations of clean underwear, clean socks, razors, combs, and toothbrushes.

The San Luis Obispo Library is located at 995 Palm St.
