Major construction and road resurfacing work could impact drivers on Broad Street between Tank Farm Road to just past the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport starting this weekend.

Some construction work is already underway but the main overnight reconstruction work will begin on Sunday, August 4. According to the city, the work will be done from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. in an effort to minimize the impact on commuters.

Roads and access to the airport will remain open throughout construction, but drivers should be prepared for intermittent lane closures and delays.

In addition to the road resurfacing, the improvements include ADA-accessible curb corner ramps, roadway striping and a wider buffer for bike lanes.

The project is funded by the Local Revenue Measure, the city’s one-half percent sales tax that helps fund maintenance projects, according to a city news release.
