5th inmate tests positive for covid-19 at SLO county jail

A fifth inmate the the San Luis Obispo County Jail tested positive for covid-19.

The sheriff's office says the inmate was asymptomatic and tested positive Saturday.

They were arrested five days prior and then quarantined. No other inmates were exposed.

This is the first reported inmate case since July 22.

Three correctional officers and three patrol deputies have tested positive for the virus since March.

Sheriff's officials say the county continues to be vigilant with screening, testing and quarantining.
