Six new pickleball courts opened in Santa Maria on a limited basis because of covid-19 safety guidelines.
Reservations are required, according to the Recreation and Parks Department.
"The new facility is gorgeous. It's actually the jewel of the Central Coast as far as pickleball courts go,” said pickleball player Steve Nelson.
Courts are open Monday through Friday from 1 to 9 p.m.
The Hagerman Sports Complex also opened its sports fields for the first time since June.
Local sports teams can train and condition, but they are not allowed to host games or spectators.
