Students in the Allan Hancock College chapter of SkillsUSA gathered in downtown Guadalupe on Friday for a public service beautification project.

More than 30 participants painted curbs, swept and pulled weeds at the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center, according to a press release from Allan Hancock College.

"I never grew up here, but you can tell this community is very tied together and there's a lot of pride in Guadalupe, so it's a really good thing to give back to the community," said Allan Hancock College student Isaiah Urbano.

The press release says the public was also invited to contribute to the beautification project.

SkillsUSA is a national career and technical training organization that promotes community service.
