Local students participate in annual earthquake drill

Millions of people both locally and statewide took part in the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill Thursday.

Anyone can particiapte in the drill, which usually happens at 10:17 a.m.

At that time, people are encouraged to drop, cover and hold for one minute, practicing what would be needed in the case of a real earthquake.

Many local schools, including Miguelito Elementary in Lompoc and Nipomo Elementary in Nipomo participated.
