SHELL BEACH, Calif. — A beautiful day out at Shell Beach Sunday created great conditions for vendors to sell crafts at Art in the Park.

More than 60 vendors gathered at Dinosaur Caves Park for the monthly event.

One of the local artists makes canvas art out of fresh ground coffee!

Artist Andrew Wilkie says he roasts the beans several times to get them dark and brittle, then he uses an adhesive to stick the grounds on the canvas.

Wilkie says he was inspired by sand art.

"In whatever people are doing just to be creative, I try to encourage that. I found coffee because I loved coffee. We lived in Costa Rica for a while and I just hadn't seen anybody doing anything. I just wanted to experiment and play around and have fun," he explained.

If you missed Art in the Park Sunday, you can check out the next event September 1st.
