Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham announced a new bill package that would improve access to mental health resources for kids in public schools.
School closures have impacted many students mental health throughout the pandemic.
Bill 1080 would allow school districts to partner with outside mental health providers or clinics to provide in-school mental health treatment for students.
“By increasing both the funding and the pool of accessible mental health professionals available for our kids, we can make sure children have the mental health resources they need,” said Cunningham.
Students with Lompoc Unified will return to school for in-person learning starting March 8.
Case numbers have dropped to 16.9 per 100,000 residents in Santa Barbara County, which was announced by the county Tuesday.
