Atascadero City firefighters quickly knocked down a house fire Wednesday night.
Reports of a structure fire came in at around 8:30 p.m. on the 4700 block of Arizona Avenue.
When firefighters arrived they say the single family residence was seen with smoke coming from the roof and attic area. When fire officials entered the home they say there was fire throughout the living room and attic space.
Firefighters were able to quickly gain control of the fire and prevent the blaze from extending to any other parts of the home.
All occupants in the home were able to get out safely, including a dog and a cat who were initially trapped inside.
Firefighters say the fire originated in a fireplace flue inside of the attic. The cause is under investigation.
According to fire officials, around $16,000 of damage occurred, including property value and content value.
