Attempted murder suspect taken into custody in Santa Barbara

A man was taken into custody Thursday in connection with a stabbing the day before, according to a city of Santa Barbara press release.

Anthony Cuevas, 45, was booked by the Santa Barbara Police Department on charges of attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials said the victim was stabbed on May 27 in the 200 block of South Milpas St.

Police said Cuevas was found around 9:30 p.m. on May 28 in the 1200 block of Punta Gorda St. He was ordered to stop by K-9 Officer Signorelli and his K-9 partner Murdoch and Cuevas immediately surrendered, according to the release.

Police said a knife, believed to be the weapon, was later found buried in the ground nearby.

The victim was reportedly treated for his injuries at a a local hospital.
