UPDATE (3:24 p.m.) - A bicyclist from San Jose was injured at Bishop Peak after he fell and landed on his shoulder Sunday morning, according to CAL FIRE SLO.
CHP Coastal Divison's Air Operations team said the 30-year-old man tried to hike back on his own but was not able to because of the thick brush and extreme pain from the fall.
Once the incident was reported, CALFIRE SLO and the San Luis Obispo Fire Department hiked up to where the hiker was and found him in moderate condition.
According to CAL FIRE SLO, medics at the scene gave him pain relief before hoisting him onto a CHP H70 helicopter. The bicyclist was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where officials said he is recovering from his injuries.
