Businesses in downtown Pismo Beach kick-off their first ever Hometown Coastal Christmas event.
Merchants in Pismo Beach say that with the parking lot construction and other city improvements many visitors are not shopping downtown.
The Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce is now encouraging shops to decorate their stores and offer more discounts.
People shopping are able to pick-up a passport which indicates the specials at each stop at any of the participating businesses which can be found on here.
Passports completed and turned in will be entered to win up to twenty $25 gift cards with a grand prize drawing for a one night stay and $100 restaurant gift card from the Inn at the Pier.
Several businesses have also joined in on the Surfboard Decorating Contest which will be displayed in various windows and storefronts.
Anyone can come through to vote and final voting will take place on Monday Dec. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. where boards will be on final display on the Pismo Beach Pier.
