The inaugural Cross Cultural Centers Dinner brought together students and community members Monday for a presentation addressing how to create a more culturally rich environment at the university and within the community.
The event featured guest speaker, Spike Lee. Lee is a Oscar-winning director, writer, actor and producer. Following the dinner, Lee held a student-focused conversation.
Lee has been know to star in and create films that showcase outspoken and provocative socio-political critiques that challenge cultural assumptions about race, class and gender identity.
The funds raised at the Cross Cultural Centers Dinner will go towards enhancing programs and services that support the retention of underrepresented students, and increase student engagement.
