Cal Poly is recognizing healthcare workers and other essential employees through their "Light it blue to thank you" effort.
Buildings and landmarks around the university's campus will illuminate blue starting Friday night.
The lights are also meant to symbolize appreciation for those who helped prepare San Luis Obispo County's Alternative Care Site at the Cal Poly Recreation Center.
The south side of the Cal Poly Recreation Center, the Preforming Arts Center and the Grande Avenue entrance to the school's campus will be lit blue at dusk each evening through May 31.
