Arroyo Grande Community Hospital board members made some calls to raise money for the hospital's facilities and programs Tuesday night.

The call-a-thon is part of a $6.5 million campaign to fund a new emergency room department and cancer department.

Hospital officials say they have $400,000 left to raise.

Recent donors of the event include Pacific Premier and Mechanics Bank.

"We rely on philanthropic support because we don't have shareholders," says Vice President of Philanthropy Montisa Phelan Lopez, "Anything that is generated from the hospital goes back to our community and into our facility."

The campaign started in 2015 with a $5 million goal that increased by $1.5 million in 2017.
