Ballard resident Anne Guynn has been updating a daily spreadsheet with the latest statewide Coronavirus numbers.

She decided to commemorate the lives lost to the virus by making a single heart for everyone who has died in California.

Guynn hangs the hearts on her walnut trees.

"I try to take it really seriously," Guynn said. "It was really nice to be making art and it's fun to be acknowledged. But as I was stringing each heart, I was trying to remind myself that this is actually a life that is no longer here. That's a shame and there is a family affected by it."

Guynn has made 651 hearts to hang on her trees. She said she will continue to make hearts to remember those in the state who have died from Coronavirus.

As of early Wednesday morning, there were 790 confirmed deaths in California. There has been one confirmed death in San Luis Obispo County and two in Santa Barbara County.
