Motorists in Santa Maria may notice some changes along South Depot Street.
The road was recently resurfaced between Stowell Road and Battles Road, and the roadway layout was changed to reduce the number of travel lanes, relocate on-street parking, and improve bicycle lanes.
City officials say the new roadway layout allows for approximately 85 cars to park along the eastern side of the street. There will be no parking on the western side of the street.
The project adds 39 spaces next to Adam Basin and Minami Park, which city officials say will provide safer access to those areas. They also say fewer lanes should slow vehicle traffic through the area.
Temporary signs have been placed on Depot Street to alert motorists to the changes.
