Serve Santa Maria is making a comeback to help improve the city.
The city code compliance has asked the group to help clean up the exterior of the Regal Edwards Santa Maria Movie Theater.
The theater had to cancel landscape services because of a lack of revenue during the pandemic.
Serve Santa Maria has rounded up about 30 volunteers to clean up around the building.
"We have to have a success to prove that we can do this safely and then will be able to move on to other perhaps smaller projects, you know, maybe five or ten people do a house here a house there,” said Carl Nielson, Serve Santa Maria organizer.
Serve Santa Maria says the plan is to show the city that they can do the cleanup project safely while practicing social distancing.
Volunteers are using all their own equipment to lessen the need for contact between people.
