Officials from the City of Buellton celebrated the groundbreaking of the Highway 246 Sycamore Pedestrian Improvement Project Monday.
The City has worked with Caltrans for years on creating a design that would help pedestrians safely cross the highway, and have finally settled on the right way to provide that walkway.
The project is being funded by grants from North County Measure A Safe Routes to School and Caltrans ATP. This funding will assist in the design and construction phases.
Caltrans and the City of Buellton have not specified when construction on the project will be complete.
