Morro Bay Mayor John Headding announced Tuesday the launch of "Morro Bay Cares" program to help the community, inform, and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Mayor Headding strongly encouraged residents and businesses to follow Federal, State and County Health guidelines with regard to social distancing efforts to reduce the spread of the virus locally.

Mayor Headding also highlighted the expansion of the Fire Department's R.U.O.K or "are you okay?" program, where the most vulnerable residents who are sheltering in place at home can sign-up with the City to receive daily wellness checks and help connect those residents to critical services such as food delivery.

Those who would like to donate to the food program can call 805-541-3312.

The City also announced the launch of the City's COVID-19 webpage. City leaders are encouraging community members to take the COVID-19 survey.

The City Council will meet on Thursday, March 19 at 4:00p.m. at the Veterans Hall to consider ratifying the local emergency and fiscal emergency declarations
