The City of San Luis Obispo is being awarded a 2020 Climate Protection Award for its community climate action accomplishments.
Local leaders recently developed the Clean Energy Choice Program for New Buildings, a program that encourages clean, efficient and cost-effective all-electric buildings.
City council members adopted the program in June as part of the city's plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.
San Luis Obispo is committed to the Paris Climate Agreement with nearly 4,000 other U.S. cities, states, tribal nations businesses, universities, health care organizations, faith groups, and cultural institutions.
