Community members in San Luis Obispo are being warned by the city of a potential scam.
According to a press release, over the past several weeks, a group of unknown teenage males have been going door-to-door asking residents for money.
City officials say the teens are identifying themselves as San Luis Obispo High School students soliciting donations in the form of cash or checks for school related travel expenses.
Staff from San Luis Obispo High School have confirmed these are fraudulent acts.
The city is working with the San Luis Obispo Police Department in identifying the suspects in the case.
