The City of San Luis Obispo Utilities Department is looking for young artists to submit their original works for an art contest.

The contest is part of the fifth annual Imagine a Day Without Water, a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about the value of water and the need for investment in our nation's water systems.

Students in third grade through high school are invited to participate. Elementary school students are asked to prepare an art project on paper, such as a drawing or painting. Middle and high school students may submit drawings, paintings, graphic design, videos, or essays.

Artwork is due by Friday, October 18.

Winners in each grade will be chosen on Wednesday, October 23, and the winning pieces will be displayed at the Utilities Department's Farmers' Market booth on Thursday, October 24, as well as at the City/County Library in downtown San Luis Obispo and Arts Obispo's Art After Dark on November 1. Winners will receive a $50 gift card.
